Material Circularity and Innovative Building Solutions

Join us for a compelling session on material circularity focusing on upcycling waste into usable building materials. The session showcases a research-driven discussion led by Sofia Colabella and Katie Skillington, who are pioneering methods for transforming waste into sustainable architectural materials. Their current project, [RE]Maker, explores innovative ways to repurpose wetsuit surplus materials in architectural design.

This event provides insight into how timber tectonics and digital fabrication play significant roles in minimizing environmental impact while maximizing functionality and sustainability in architecture. The online event will take place on 13 June 2025, from 12.30–1.30pm AEST.

Registration Fees:

  • $30 for Parlour Collective members

  • $45 General

  • $22.50 for General concession

  • $15 for Collective concession

Navigating Fatigue in Multicultural Practice

What does professional fatigue look like for multicultural practitioners in architecture? The next session—On the Verandah—delves into the hidden layers of work often undertaken by multicultural practitioners balanced against homogenous environments. Featuring Sonia Sarangi, Thihoa Gill, and Saba Adil Malik, this discussion focuses on understanding and alleviating the fatigue from such professional landscapes.

The conversation aims to uncover the invisible labor faced by these practitioners and explore strategies for both individuals and organizations to mitigate such burdens. Scheduled for 19 June 2025, from 12.30–1.30pm AEST, this session offers an invaluable forum for advocating change in architectural practice.

Registration Fees:
