The Faculty of Architecture of the Université libre de Bruxelles recently published a job vacancy for a full-time academic position in Building and Material Heritage.
You will find the complete announcements on the ULB website via the link below, along with full details and application procedures:
Application deadline: 15 January 2026
This full-time academic position in “Building and Material Heritage” aims to develop teaching and research activities in the field of documenting and intervening on existing buildings, at the intersection of history, construction cultures and techniques, architectural representation, and sustainability issues.
Anchored in the scientific dynamics of the Faculty of Architecture at ULB, the position is part of a critical and contemporary approach to the built heritage, understood in a broad sense to encompass all categories (protected or unprotected buildings, major or ordinary, old or recent, attributed to architects or anonymous). It responds to a major paradigm shift in architectural practice: no longer demolishing, but documenting, understanding, and transforming in an informed and contextual manner. Within the faculty, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing research and teaching that articulates a strong knowledge of materials and construction techniques, both in their historical development and in their contemporary relevance. This knowledge will notably cover the fields of restoration, conservation, maintenance, and/or transformation. The candidate must master modern construction techniques and materials, as well as vernacular, artisanal, and traditional ones, enabling them to critically question these forms of knowledge and practice at an international and intercultural scale.
s-architecture is intended for scholars of Architecture (academe, practice, students, and the public). The list posts scholarship and grant opportunities, academic jobs, calls for papers, notices of conferences which will be of interest to academic staff, postgraduate students, and those in the profession with a scholarly turn of mind.
