The Association of Architecture Schools of Australasia (AASA), as a proud supporter of the APEN Symposium, is delighted to announce PRACTICE < > READY, the 2026 Architectural Practice Educators Network Sysmposim, to be held on Friday 17th April 2026, Balam Balam Place, Melbourne
PRACTICE < > READY, the 2026 Architectural Practice Educators Network (APEN) Symposium cohosted by Monash and RMIT, opens the dialogue between pedagogy and practice to reframe how we understand the future architecture worker – their diverse labour, skills, productivity, identities, and education. The symposium strives to problematise the idea and rhetoric of the ‘Job-Ready Graduate’ by provocatively asking what is a job-ready architecture graduate exactly, and what are we asking architecture graduates to be ready for?
This event is co-curated by Jean-Paul Rollo and Kathy Waghorn (Monash), Ben Milbourne and Helen Duong (RMIT), Melonie Bayl-Smith (UNSW) and Dr Victoria Jackson-Wyatt. A PDF outlining the sessions is attached below. Alternatively, you can find more information about Symposium by visiting the APEN website.
Thanks to our generous supporters this symposium is at no cost for participants. We hope you can join us at Balam Balam place for a full-day of lively discussion on the interface of research, education and practice.
